A school in Southwark for 70 students
with Social, Emotional and Behavioural
Difficulties.

Legible circulation was a fundamental
aspect of the design, allowing pupils and
staff to orientate themselves with ease.
The ground floor is organised around one
long, central ‘street’ that runs from the
entrance to the rear gardens. Designed as
a double-height, top-lit hall, the ‘street’
provides access to all principal areas and
circulation. At first floor level teaching
spaces are arranged around the central
courtyard.
    The design permits maximum
engagement with the outdoor spaces
and particularly so with the central
amphitheatre that exploits the three
metre slope across the site and engages
with the Performing Arts Studio which is
placed at the heart of the plan.
