V&A - RIBA Reading RoomsLondon
“slow-cook architecture is alive and well - it looks both useful and fine” - Paul Finch Architects Journal
"This is an elegant solution to a difficult problem" - Marco Goldschmied Former RIBA President
This project involved re-organising the V&A’s largest single collection to make way for the incoming special collections, formerly housed at RIBA. We were able to provide high quality facilities for both archives and reading; items from the Collection are exhibited throughout. Desks are generous to allow study space for large portfolios of drawings; detailing of storage areas required meticulous consideration of day-to-day handling, movement and environmental control.
Works were scheduled and coordinated to maintain areas of operation throughout the project, which is set within the Grade 1 Listed Building.
